If you are searching for whole lechon in Halifax, here is a straight answer from Barrios Kitchen & Bar, the Filipino restaurant at 1571 Barrington Street, and what we offer instead.
Do we sell whole lechon?
No. We do not roast or sell a whole pig. What we make is lechon belly: rolled, seasoned pork belly roasted in the oven until the skin crackles. It gives you the crackling for a party, without roasting and carving a whole animal.

5 lb, which serves about 12: $75.
8 lb, which serves about 20: $120.
Each extra pound is $15. The minimum is 5 lb.
How to order
Order on our party trays page 24 to 48 hours ahead, and enter your pickup date and time at checkout. For sooner, call or message us; it depends on the day.
Pickup is at 1571 Barrington Street, Tuesday to Saturday from 11:30 AM to 8 PM and Sunday from 11:30 AM to 4 PM. We are closed on Mondays.
We do not deliver trays. You can book an Uber courier in the Uber app to collect your order.
On very busy days, such as Easter and Mother's Day, tray orders must be confirmed by us first and may be turned down.

Keeping the skin crisp
We pack lechon belly in a box rather than a sealed container, so steam does not soften the skin on the way home. Serve it soon after pickup. If the skin softens, an air fryer is the best way to bring it back.
Whole lechon, lechon belly, lechon kawali: the difference
Whole lechon: a whole pig roasted over coals, turned for hours until the skin is glassy and crisp. Cebu is famous for lechon stuffed with lemongrass and aromatics, so flavourful it needs no sauce. In Luzon, where our chef Nino is from, it usually comes with a sweet, tangy liver sauce.
Lechon belly, sometimes called lechon liempo: pork belly, seasoned and roasted. Ours is rolled. This is what we make.
Lechon kawali: pork belly simmered and then deep-fried in a kawali, a wok. It is on our regular menu for $19, with steamed rice.
Leftover lechon traditionally becomes lechon paksiw, a tangy stew simmered with vinegar and garlic.
Lechon without the party
If you just want the crackling for dinner, our lechon kawali ($19) and crispy pata ($27, pork hocks simmered then deep-fried) are on the menu Tuesday to Saturday. Our special brunches, such as Easter, Mother's Day, Christmas and New Year, often add extra dishes like lechon belly.
Building a lechon table
Lechon is rich, so the rest of the table should balance it. Our trays come in a family size, which serves about 5, and a party size, which serves about 10; the prices below are family size.
