Filipino Food in Halifax: Everything Barrios Offers, in One Place
Barrios Kitchen & Bar is a Filipino restaurant at 1571 Barrington Street in downtown Halifax. Our dishes are cooked by Filipino chefs, and there are five ways to eat them: a table in the dining room, Sunday brunch, takeout and delivery, party trays, and catering or a private event.

When we are open
Tuesday to Thursday: 11:30 AM to 9 PM, last booked table at 8 PM.
Friday and Saturday: 11:30 AM to 11 PM, last seating at 10 PM.
Sunday: Filipino brunch only, 10:30 AM to 4 PM.
Monday: closed.
Long weekends and holidays can change this, so call 902-444-2515 if you are planning around one.
Eating in the dining room
Our menu is built for sharing. Most Filipino tables put several plates in the middle and eat them with rice, and that is the easiest way to order here too.
A few of the Filipino dishes people come in for: pork sisig at $20, sizzling on a cast iron plate; kare-kare at $22, crispy pork belly and vegetables in peanut sauce with bagoong on the side; chicken inasal at $22, grilled with citrus and garlic; crispy pata at $27; pancit bihon at $17; and spring rolls, our lumpiang shanghai, at $9.
For vegetarians, pinakbet at $14 is marked vegetarian and vegan-friendly on the menu, and torta, an eggplant omelette at $12, is vegetarian too. The barbecue skewers and the market salad are marked gluten free.
Not everyone at the table has to go Filipino. The menu also has burgers, tacos, fish and chips, salads and poutine. Desserts are occasional specials the chef puts on, so ask if there is one. The bar pours house-made cocktails, craft beer and non-alcoholic drinks. On Friday and Saturday the room stays open later, so it works for dinner after a show or a game.

Sunday Filipino brunch
Sunday is a different service. Filipino brunch is a spread rather than a plated menu: $29 for adults, $15 for children 12 and under, and children 5 and under eat free.
The breakfast side of the spread includes tocino, longganisa, bacon and scrambled eggs, pandesal, hash browns and siomai. A soup rotates each week, the lunch side is built from the dinner menu with two dishes added just for brunch, and there is cut fruit and a rotating pastry to finish. Bottomless sago gulaman, coffee and tea are included. The bar is open and ordered separately.
Walk-ins are welcome, but we recommend booking.
Takeout and delivery
For delivery, order Barrios through Uber Eats or DoorDash, Tuesday to Saturday from noon to 8 PM. Party trays
For a party at home or a lunch at the office, our party food trays come in two sizes: family size serves about 5 people and party size about 10. The prices on the tray page are for family size. A few examples: pancit bihon CA$35, spring rolls CA$20, chicken inasal CA$40, and crispy pata CA$80. A steamed rice tray is CA$20 and feeds 10.
Some Filipino party dishes are only available as trays, not in the dining room. Lechon belly starts at CA$75 for 5 pounds, which serves about 12. Lumpiang sariwa, the fresh spring roll, is CA$45 for a 10-piece party tray, its only size, and Filipino-style spaghetti is CA$40.
How ordering works:
Give us 24 to 48 hours' notice. Some trays can be done the same day if you call or message us.

Tray pickup times are different from our opening hours: Tuesday to Saturday 11:30 AM to 8 PM, and Sunday 11:30 AM to 4 PM, at 1571 Barrington Street.
Hot dishes go in a foil container inside a takeaway box to hold the heat. Lids and serving utensils are available if you ask.
We do not deliver trays ourselves. If you cannot pick up, book a courier in the Uber app and send the driver to us to collect your order.
If the lechon belly or crispy pata has cooled by the time you serve it, an air fryer is the best way to bring the skin back.
Catering and private events
For bigger groups, our catering starts at $37 per person, with a minimum of 50 guests. The four entrees are one each from chicken, beef, pork and seafood, for example chicken inasal, roast beef caldereta, crispy kare-kare and garlic shrimp. It comes two ways.
In-house: three hours of exclusive use of the whole restaurant, the audio and video system, Eventra (our digital event suite), and a meal of an appetizer, a side, noodles, four entrees and dessert, with water and pop included.
Off-site: we bring one appetizer, one side, one noodle dish, four entrees with one from each entree category, and three assorted desserts. Drinks are not included. We cover Halifax, Dartmouth and the surrounding HRM.
Both add 14 per cent HST on the food and a 15 per cent service fee, which has no HST, and the final price depends on the dishes you choose. Off-site events also add transportation, with HST on it. A photobooth can be added: the digital package is $150, and the souvenir package at $240 adds a printed template and 80 fridge magnets with 4x6 photos. The catering page has an inquiry form. Smaller groups can still book a private event. The dining room seats up to 60, and there is no room fee or minimum spend. Call us or message us on Facebook to set it up.
